Český Ráj is Czech and means as much as “Czech Paradise”. And believe me that’s not exaggerated! The landscape is amazingly beautiful and there are fantastic hiking trails all over the area. You wouldn’t believe that this pearl is just about 100km away from Prague.
On our first trip we checked out Prachovské Skály, Trosky (one of the most famous landmarks there) and the area around Hruba Skála including castle Valdštejn. We’ve seen a lot, but also we missed a lot. I’m sure we’re going back there more than once.
We stayed at Hotel Filip which is located directly at the E442 and therefore a good starting point. Despite that there’s literally nothing around the hotel except corn fields. There rooms are nice and comfortable. They have a restaurant. The dinner we had was excellent and the price was fair. Just the breakfast could not hold up with the quality of the rest of the hotel. For a single night however it was fine.
